Mission: The Professional Engineers of Colorado Education Foundation (PECEF) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, created as a separate legal entity to administer funds to support PEC's State and Affiliated chapters educational activities. History: The foundation was formed in 1990 to support engineering and scientific educational activities of the Professional Engineers of Colorado. These activities include Bridge Building for high school students, MATHCOUNTS for junior high school students, and other educational programs. Organization: The Foundation maintains separate accounting for each activity and assures contributions are spent on the activity specified by the donor. The Foundation's trustees manage the funds to receive the highest return within prudent limits of fiscal responsibility. Distribution of money from general accounts and investments are periodically made to the active educational program accounts by the Trustees. You can learn more about our organization by clicking on the following documents: Administration: The Foundation has seven trustees. Five trustees are elected in staggered terms by members of PEC; the sixth and seventh associate trustee positions are composed of the chairman of PEC's Educational Development Committee and a liaison with the PEC Executive Committee. All of the trustees volunteer their time. Contributions: Tax-deductible contributions may be made to the PEC Education Foundation and mailed to the PEC office, or directly to PEC Education Foundation, c/o Balu Bhayani, PE, Treasurer, 6905 Blackhawk Place, Colorado Springs, CO 80919. Contributions can be designated for a particular activity or left undeisnated in which case the funds will be included in general accounts for later distributions by the Trustees to active program accounts. The PEC Education Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) not for profit organization. Participation and Volunteers: Your participation and support of PEC's education program committees are very much appreciated and is usually not very time consuming. PEC provides scholarships to engineering students, and volunteers are needed to continue to make this program successful. Also, it is quite rewarding to see students participate in the MATHCOUNTS and Model Bridge Building Contests, sponsored by PEC State and local Chapters. Contact the specific chair person to see how you can help. Do plan to attend the program events usually held in February and March. Also, the PEC Education Development Committee (EDC) provides a fund raising function for the PEC educational programs. This committee is always looking for help. Give Dennis Whitney, PEC EDC Chairman a call at 303-721-9292 about your ideas and support. Plan to participate in the PEC EF Annual Golf Tournament held in the Spring. Your participation will help your chapter education programs. PEC EDC maintains a couple of general account funds that may have money available for your educational programs. Professional Engineers of Colorado provides education seminars, particularly at the annual meeting held in the spring. Presenters are needed to put on meaningful seminars. Professional Development Hours (PDH's) are provided for those that attend. It would be desirable to expand this program and to open an account at PEC EF to support this effort. Your help and ideas are welcome. Contact either the PEC President or the PEC Office. Professional Engineers of Colorado Education Foundation Officers and Trustees:
